Julie Wakefield was a guest presenter at the American Airlines Southwest Regional Sales Meeting in Austin, Texas on Thursday, January 22, 2015. Her presentation, Outclass the Competition: Business Etiquette included topics on business entertaining and a dining tutorial. Although business entertaining was the emphasis of the three hour class, the participants also discussed making a good first impression, dressing for the occasion, business communications, and networking etiquette. As an etiquette expert, one of the most frequent kinds questions I'm asked is about tipping. Most people know to tip waiters and waitresses; manicurists, barbers, and hair stylists; and cab drivers. The customary tip amount for these professionals is 15-20% of the pretax amount. However, we sometimes unintentionally overlook professional people that deserve tips.
